RHS Garden Bridgewater extends free entry for Salford residents until 2024

Free entry to RHS Garden Bridgewater for Salford residents on Tuesdays is set to continue until 2024, the Royal Horticultural Society has announced. The scheme has been extended until May next year.

When the gardens originally opened in May 2021 in Worsley, Salford residents were treated to free entry to the 154-acre site on Tuesdays to celebrate its opening. It was due to end after the first year, however it was subsequently renewed again in May 2022 and it’s now set to stay for another year.

RHS Bridgewater said on Twitter: “We’re delighted to announce that free Tuesday entry for Salford residents to RHS Bridgewater has been extended for a further year to May 2024.”

Salford’s Mayor Paul Dennett praised the news. He tweeted: “Fantastic news. Salford residents have really connected to @ RHSBridgewater whether through volunteering, community projects or the free Tuesdays with 42,000 visits made. I really hope more of you will explore the garden this spring.”

Entry to RHS Garden Bridgewater usually costs £12.35 (excluding gift aid) for adults and £5.95 for children aged five to 16. RHS members and guests can enter for free.

RHS Garden Bridgewater was developed at the site of the former Worsley New Hall. One of the largest horticultural projects undertaken in Europe in recent years, the derelict Victorian garden was transformed over the course of four years,

It features beautifully designed formal gardens, including the Weston Walled Garden, which is one of the largest in the UK. There are also areas of woodland to explore and a lake you can walk around.
