Rhigos mountain road closed in both directions after 'nasty' crash

The A4061 Rhigos mountain road is closed in both directions after a crash. The road is closed from the Rhigos Road at Hirwain Industrial Estate to Treherbert.

Inrix traffic monitoring system is reporting that there are two vehicles incolved and that there is slow traffic around the road.

According to Rhigos Mountain News on Twitter "7:45am Another nasty crash on Rhigos Mountain Road A4061 . Best avoided until official update". They later added that all cars were being turned around.

The crash comes just days after five people were taken to hospital after a crash on the same road. Police say one person has potentially "life-changing injuries" and four others are seriously injured after the crash on the Rhigos Mountain at around 6.40am on Monday, June 19. The road was closed for more than 12 hours to allow investigations to be carried out at the scene and re-opened at approximately 8.36pm.

The emergency services have been contacted for comment.
