Rhasidat Adeleke finishes fourth in 400m final

Rhasidat Adeleke finished fourth in the final of the 400-metre final in the Olympics.

Adeleke ran a time of 49.28 as she just missed out on a medal.

The race was won by Marileidy Paulino in an Olympic record time of 48.17.

Salwa Eid Naser finished second with a time of 48.53, with Natala Kaczmarek in third with a time of 48.98.

Adeleke gave everything in the race and was in third for stages in the race, but was beaten to the bronze medal by Kaczmarek.

While Adeleke was disappointed in her performance, there is no doubting the future is bright for the 21-year-old.

Adeleke ran the best ever Olympic performance by an Irish sprinter, and will only grow by the time 2028 arrives.

The Tallaght athlete may not be on the podium tonight, but has the potential to be the star of Irish athletics for the next decade.

The action may not be over yet for Adeleke, as she may be involved with the 4x400 relay team in the final on Saturday.
