Poole's extension comes ahead of Monday's deadline for members of the 2019 NBA draft class, where Poole was selected by the Warriors with the 28th pick out of the University of Michigan. Furthermore, it also comes in the wake of Poole's confrontation with teammate Draymond Green, who was fined after the altercation.
The 23-year-old Poole averaged 18.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.0 rebounds per game during the regular season with 17.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists coming in the playoffs to help the Warriors win their fourth Larry O'Brien Trophy in eight seasons.
The deal is expected to be agreed upon soon with both sides completing the final details.
