Report provides major update on Jameis Winston's injury recovery

NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler has dropped a big update on the injury status surrounding Jameis Winston for the New Orleans Saints.

Jameis Winston has been in a rather weird spot in his career for a few years now, having first been picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the #1 pick in 2015.

His numbers in Tampa Bay were erratic to say the best, best exemplified by his 2019 season, where despite leading the league in passing yards with 5,109 and throwing 33 touchdowns, he also led the league with 30 interceptions.

Ultimately those in Tampa had enough and he was released that offseason, making the move to Tampa’s NFC South rivals in the New Orleans Saints, where playing time was initially hard to come by as he sat behind Drew Brees in 2020.

Following Brees’ retirement, he was given the starting role in New Orleans and got off to a reasonable start, throwing 14 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions in the first 7 games, before an injury suffered ironically against the Bucs saw him miss the rest of the season.

The injury he suffered was a torn ACL along with some MCL damage following a horsecollar tackle, and it appears as though he is now well on the mend and stepping up his condition, as Jeremy Fowler reports that he is getting used to throwing on the run again and that the Saints expect to see him back very soon:

Saints QB Jameis Winston is progressing on his ACL rehab, and he recently began planting and throwing off playaction. Saints will likely take it easy with him this offseason but he's working as if he'll be a full go for training camp.
