Report: Mariners, OF Rodriguez finalizing 14-year contract extension
The Seattle Mariners and star rookie Julio Rodriguez are finalizing a massive long-term contract extension, according to multiple reports.
ESPN's Jeff Passan and MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez report that Rodriguez will earn $210 million guaranteed over 14 years with the ability to grow to well over $400 million in incentives. The contract includes player and team options.

Passan reports that the base of Rodriguez's deal is for eight years and $120 million, which includes this season and runs through 2029. After the 2028 season, the Mariners can choose whether or not to pic up a club option, the size and length of which depends on Rodriguez's performance in MVP voting - both wins and finishes.
The options will be for eight or 10 years on top of the original deal and can range anywhere from $200 - $350 million. If the option is picked up, Rodriguez is guaranteed at least $320 million.
If the Mariners choose not to pick up the option after Year 7, Rodriguez has a player option after Year 8 for five years and $90 million, resulting in the 13-year structure and $210 million floor.
If the M's decline the player and Rodriguez turns down the player option, he would become a free agent right before his 30th birthday.
