Report: Mariners, Castillo agree to five-year, $108 million extension
Right-handed pitcher Luis Castillo and the Seattle Mariners are in agreement on a five-year, $108 million contract extension, according to ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan.

Passan adds that the deal contains a sixth-year vesting option can take the deal to $133 million. Passan was also informed that if Castillo undergoes UCL surgery from 2025-27 and is out four 130+ days, the Mariners will receive a $5 million option on the 2028 season.

The 29-year-old was acquired by the Mariners in a deadline-day deal with the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for four prospects.
A native of Bani, Dominican Republic, Castillo posted a record of 2-3 in nine games with a 2.83 ERA with 64 strikeouts with 54 innings of work for the Mariners. A two-time All-Star in 2019 and 2022, Castillo has a career 3.57 ERA with 924 strikeouts in 846.1 innings.
