Report: Conte eyeing star with £336m release clause, Spurs could offer out ‘one of the best'

As per Spanish journalist Albert Roge of Sport, there has been a big update regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Memphis Depay.

Reports have emerged over the last week of Spurs making a pre-summer bid to sign the former Manchester United winger, with there even being claims that Barcelona are likely to accept it.

European sources believe that the Catalans’ financial situation puts them in a difficult spot as Camp Nou president Joan Laporta eyes player sales to get the club out of ‘the red’ (Foot Mercato). Defender Clement Lenglet, another Conte target, is also a mentioned as a player who could be used in an exchange deal for Reguilon.

Much has been made of Real Madrid’s €40m (£34m) buyback clause inserted into Spurs’ agreement to sign Reguilon in 2020, so this news that he could actually end up joining Barca comes as a slight shock.

Ryan Sessegnon’s consistent injury problems are a cause for concern, despite his good form when able to play, so Conte keeping his alternative left-back in the Spaniard may well be crucial.

Reguilon has been called ‘one of the best left-backs in the world’ by
