'Relegation without him' - Manchester United sent Cristiano Ronaldo message after Chelsea goal

After 59 minutes to forget between Manchester United and Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday evening, the game exploded into life with two goals in two minutes.

United had produced a lifeless, flat and forgettable showing in the opening 59 minutes and deservedly fell behind on the hour mark when Marcos Alonso fired the ball home from close range. The Spaniard connected with Kai Havertz's flick-on to fire home from close range, after Reece James was given the freedom of Old Trafford to swing over a cross.

However, United, despite not being at the races since kick-off, responded immediately, drawing level through Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese ace fired home emphatically from inside the box after latching onto Nemanja Matic's excellent pass.

It took Ronaldo's tally of goals for the season to 23 in all competitions and provided United with a surprise route back into the contest.

Unsurprisingly, Ronaldo's latest strike attracted an immediate reaction on social media. Below, MEN Sport has taken a look at what United's supporters had to say.

As you can see from the messages displayed in the tweets above, some United fans have sarcastically joked that Ronaldo has been the problem behind United's woes this season. Throughout the campaign, it has been suggested that his return to the club last summer has been the catalyst for their demise. However, his tally of 23 goals this season suggests otherwise.
