Relegation threatened Gillingham send Sheffield Wednesday warning

Sheffield Wednesday continued in their inconsistencies on Tuesday evening as they followed up a 6-0 victory over Cambridge United with a 1-1 draw against Accrington Stanley. This left them a point outside the playoff places, but with a game in hand over Sunderland, who currently sit in the final playoff position.

They will hope to return to winning ways on Saturday as they face Gillingham but the relegation battlers will provide a different kind of test for the Owls as they fight for every point to try and retain their League One status.

The Gills midfielder, Oliver Lee has stated the despite their position in the table, his team still fancy their chances against Darren Moore 's side: "We back ourselves. We know Sheffield Wednesday are a top, top side, the history of these clubs is something else but these are the games you want to play in," said Lee.

"We were exited going to Charlton, a big team, doing our stuff, it will be the same against Sheffield Wednesday at home - we will back ourselves, we will fancy it, we will go toe-to-toe with them and see where it takes us. Since the gaffer [Neil Harris] has come in we want to set better standards, we want to beat these teams. I firmly believe that we could have gone [to Charlton] and won, I am gutted we haven’t but it is on to Saturday now." With eight to go there will be ups and downs but is about managing that and being positive and bouncing back."

When the two clubs face one another in November the game ended in a 1-1 draw as Florian Kamberi goal earned Wednesday a point after Gillingham had held a first-half lead.
