Barry Bannan shares message as he reflects on recent events at Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has taken to Instagram to reflect on the club’s latest display in League One.

The Owls boosted their hopes of sealing a top-six finish in the third-tier on Saturday by sealing a dramatic victory over AFC Wimbledon at Hillsborough.

Bannan set up the opening goal of this fixture as his cross was headed home by Jack Hunt in the 11th minute.

Undeterred by this setback, Wimbledon managed to level proceedings via a strike from Ayoub Assal.

Following the break, Bailey Peacock-Farrell produced a fine save to prevent Assal as both sides searched for a winning goal.

With the game seemingly heading towards a draw, Lee Gregory netted his 10th goal of the season in stoppage-time to seal victory for the Owls.

As a result of this victory, Wednesday moved up to fifth in the League One standings.

Darren Moore’s side will be looking to extend their current unbeaten run to six games when they take on Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

Reflecting on the club’s latest triumph on Instagram, Bannan has admitted that it was a big three points for Wednesday.

The midfielder posted: “Big 3 points.

“Attitude and determination of this group is amazing.

“We kick on.”

The Verdict

Wednesday’s form since the turn of the year has been very impressive as they have managed to click into gear under the guidance of Moore.

When you consider that the Owls have only lost two of their last 14 league games, they could prove to be a force to be reckoned with if they qualify for the play-offs later this month.

In order to retain their place in the top-six between now and the end of the campaign, Wednesday will need to turn to Bannan for inspiration as he has been a stand-out performer
