Sunshine Queens FC
Following its relegation from the topflightof the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) to the lower division, the management of Sunshine Queens of Akure has relieved Oladimeji Abimbola of his chief coaching position. He has been redeployed to the team’s U-17 side.
Until its relegation at the end of the NWFL last week, Sunshine Queens FC of Akure was one of the nation’s most formidable teams, supplying key players to the national team, the Super Falcons.
The Guardian learnt that the team’s relegation to the lower league was as a result ofthe combination of several factors, including poor funding by the state government and poor recruitment of players.
The management has named Rafiu Oseni as the new coach of the team.
Oseni will be assisted by Nike Adekunle and former captain of the club, Odunayo Adejoro.
According to worawangra.wordpress.com, Ondo State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye confirmed the appointment yesterday, saying it was with immediate effect.
Yusuf-Ogunleye said that the repositioning was aimed at restructuring football in the state.
