Referees of Celtic games need danger money and VAR won't stop the fans whinging - Hotline

What the heck are we going to talk about after December when there are no contentious decisions, no referee gaffs and no arguing about biased officials?

I’m sure we’ll find a way, especially as it’s four days since the Scottish Cup semis and fans are still going at it over the man in the middle.

Rangers fans were hitting back at Celtic and Steve Macleod, Wokingham, said: “As ever after a Rangers victory there is the permanent inference that referees are biased in favour of Rangers. That wasn’t the case at the weekend and the stats prove it hasn’t been the case since time immemorial.

“It puts referees under intolerable strain and fear and it’s got to stop. Sometimes Bhoys, you just lose to a better team.”

Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: “Just so I get this clear Rangers didn’t win the game with an offside goal, like Celtic did with Chris Jullien in 2019, they didn’t get a dodgy penalty to win, they didn’t score in eight minutes added on time. No, they are actually moaning that some Rangers players should have been booked, while ignoring Celtic challenges.

“Rangers won fair and square, get over it.”

Chris McMenemy, Falkirk, said: “The most contentious decision took place after just two minutes, when VAR would've awarded Rangers a penalty.

“Could you imagine the scenes if that had happened, when you see the outcry over two non-bookings for Lundstram and Bassey. Anyone who referees a Celtic game should get danger money.”

Kenny Goff emailed: “They are at it already, Celtic already want refs on VAR changed. This lot complain at everything. Get a life and let the people on it do their job.”
