Red Bull 'surprised and disappointed' with FIA cost cap findings
Red Bull say they are ‘surprised and disappointed‘ with the FIA’s cost cap findings that state the team breached the 2021 financial cap by a minor overspend.
Formula 1 is a fast-moving sport both off of the track as well as on it, and just a day after the team was celebrating Max Verstappen winning a second world title, they are now responding to the FIA’s findings that are in breach of 2021’s financial cap rules.
The FIA announced earlier on Monday that the Milton Keynes-based team were guilty of a minor financial overspend breach (less than 5% of the 2021 cap) as well as a procedural breach, whilst Aston Martin were also found guilty of a procedural breach.
Red Bull’s is the most significant, then, with penalties relating to the matter ranging from reprimands and fines to limited aero testing and points deductions relating to the season when the offence was committed, in this case 2021.
However, Red Bull have maintained their innocence all along amid the speculation that was written before the FIA’s revelation and they have doubled down on that stance this afternoon, taking to social media to release a statement with them expressing their surprise and disappointment at the news and reiterating their belief that they were under the 2021 cap:

The FIA has not yet said what punishments will be given to Red Bull and Aston Martin in relation to this matter, but it’s clear that the Bulls do not feel they should be handed any penalties anyway.
This is clearly a story that is going to run and rumble on for some time, then, as we wait and see what both the FIA and Red Bull do next.
