Red Bull KTM upbeat as Binder learns from Americas MotoGP blunder: 'We'll go better in Jerez'

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team had reason to celebrate at the 2023 Grand Prix of the Americas. The upbeat attitude comes despite riders Brad Binder and Jack Miller not securing top 10 results.

For Binder, South Africa's MotoGP star, the race had more positives than negatives, with the team's bike, the RC16, showing impressive pace.

This was evident when the South African spun out of the top 10 but was still able to rejoin the race to finish in 13th place. Teammate Miller spun out a few laps before Binder's mistake at Turn 15, but could not rejoin the race. He was third and en route to a podium finish for the team.

"The whole weekend here in Austin has been a lot more positive than we might have expected beforehand, based off our experiences here in the last years," Binder said.

"(In the race), I had high hopes, but unfortunately, I switched my line going into Turn 1 at the start, and it was a big mistake on my part. I ended up getting caught in the chaos on the first lap. I tried my best. I struggled with the front tire up until a few laps before I crashed.

"Luckily, I was able to remount, and we still got three points. As frustrating as (the race) was, we are not walking away empty-handed. For me, it was also a lesson, especially from my mistake at the start. At Jerez, we will go a hell of a lot better."

The next race is the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Jerez on 28-30 April.
