Rebekah Vardy hopeful of reunion with Coleen over coffee after 'Wagatha Christie' case

Rebekah Vardy is hopeful that one day she and Coleen Rooney might be reunited over a coffee after the women ended up in a highly publicised trial dubbed the 'Wagatha Christie' case. Rebekah and Coleen went to the High Court in May after the wife of Leicester City footballer Jamie Vardy was accused of leaking stories about Coleen's private life to the press.

The wife of former Manchester United, Everton, and England footballing star Wayne Rooney publicly claimed back in October 2019 that Vardy’s account was the source behind three stories in The Sun newspaper featuring fake details she had posted on her private Instagram. Rebekah denied leaking the stories to the media and sued for libel.

On Friday, Mrs Justice Steyn ruled in Rooney’s favour and dismissed the claim against her. The judge described Rebekah's evidence as "inconsistent, evasive and implausible" and found Coleen's claim that she had leaked personal information about her was "substantially true."

Speaking on Talk TV for the first time since the case, Rebekah, 40, insisted in the interview "I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't do it" and said she was 'disappointed' by the judge's decision. But she told interviewer Kate McCann that she would 'welcome' the opportunity to meet up with Coleen one day.

"I don't wish her any ill-feeling. Maybe one day we'll have a coffee together," she said. Describing receiving messages from home about Coleen's now-famous "it’s … Rebekah Vardy’s account" post while she and her husband were getting ready to go to a beach bar with friends in Dubai she said she experienced: "Overwhelming dizziness fuzziness and disbelief."
