'Really like it' - Steven Gerrard makes Aston Villa promise Leeds United will love

Aston Villa head coach Steven Gerrard has urged his players to take their 'frustration' of failing to beat Crystal Palace out on Burnley on Thursday night.

Gerrard's side were held to a 1-1 draw with Patrick Vieira's Eagles on Sunday as a late Jeffrey Schlupp goal restored parity for the visitors at Villa Park. Ollie Watkins notched his 11th of the campaign as he opened the scoring in the second half, but Villa couldn't hold on to what would have been their 12th Premier League clean sheet of the season.

Villa will host relegation-threatened Burnley on Thursday evening in hope of claiming a third win in their last five league games, but know they will face stern opposition against Mike Jackson's side who are fighting tooth and nail for survival. The Clarets currently occupy the final relegation position and are one point behind Leeds United.

With a game in hand on Jesse Marsch's side, Burnley will move out of the drop zone if they avoid defeat at Villa Park. Then on the final day of the campaign, Burnley host Newcastle United while Leeds travel to Brentford.

And Gerrard is looking to plunge Burnley into further relegation trouble on Thursday as he aims to steer the Villa into the top half of the league table this term. Speaking after his side's 1-1 draw with Palace, he said: "It's on (top half) but it's slightly more difficult now. We needed to take control of that and take maximum points today but my players are frustrated and I really like it.

"I like that they’re really frustrated and, hopefully, we can take that frustration out on Burnley on Thursday night because if we want to be a more consistent team at home, we have to be more ruthless and clinical in front of goal.
