"Really difficult" – Journalist reveals Wolves concern after worrying injury update
Suffering injuries at this stage in the season are “really difficult” for Wolves, according to Dean Jones, amid Nelson Semedo’s recent setback.
The 24-cap Portugal international hobbled out of Wolves’ defeat at Arsenal and could face a spell on the sidelines.
Their trip to North London showed so much promise but ended up being a bad night all round for Bruno Lage.
Hwang Hee-chan’s early goal put Wolves on course for a priceless three points in their pursuit of European football, but a late Arsenal comeback, which included an injury-time goal from Alexandre Lacazette, saw the Molineux outfit slip to a heartbreaking defeat.
Lage had earlier lost first-choice right wing-back Semedo, who was forced to hobble off with a hamstring problem having suffered an injury on the hour mark.
It was a major blow for the former Barcelona defender, who had been playing some of the best football of his Wolves career since he signed for £37m, starting all-but two of Wolves’ Premier League games prior to his injury.
Semedo’s issue saw him miss out at West Ham on Sunday as Lage’s side capped off a disappointing week in the capital after they suffered another narrow defeat.
Lage was able to name an incredibly strong bench at the London Stadium, which included the likes of Willy Boly, Joao Moutinho, Daniel Podence, Pedro Neto and Raul Jimenez, but Jones said that suffering injuries at the business end of the season is the last thing that Wolves need right now.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “This is a really difficult stage of the season for Wolves to suffer injuries like that.”
