"Real worry for Frank Lampard" - Journalist drops claim on issue Everton manager didn't expect

Everton boss Frank Lampard will be fearful of the sack regardless of whether he manages to keep the Toffees in the Premier League, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The axing of Rafa Benitez led to the Merseyside outfit turning to Lampard as they hoped to revive their season, but they are still in serious danger of dropping into the Championship.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright revealed Lampard ‘expressed a clear vision on how he wants to take the club forward’ during the interview process, but he has struggled to put that into action.

The former Chelsea chief has only guided the Toffees to two victories in seven Premier League fixtures, resulting in them going into the international break sitting just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Ahead of travelling to face Europa League quarter-finalists West Ham United next weekend, Everton have suffered six defeats in 10 fixtures since Lampard replaced Benitez at the helm.

Although the 43-year-old penned a two-and-a-half year contract to take charge at Goodison Park, it appears Lampard could potentially head out of the exit door within the next two months.

That is because it has emerged that Everton added a break clause to Lampard’s deal, meaning they are able to part company with the former England international at the end of the season without paying a penny in compensation.

O’Rourke believes Lampard will be disappointed with his lack of impact since taking control of the managerial reins at Everton.
