Frank Lampard gives honest verdict on Everton future ahead of Manchester United fixture

Everton manager Frank Lampard has spoken honestly about his future on Merseyside ahead of Saturday's visit from Manchester United.

It has been a dismal week on the pitch for the Toffees, having lost 2-1 to West Ham on Sunday. Everton then made the short trip to fellow strugglers Burnley in midweek and loss 3-2 thanks to a late Maxwel Cornet goal.

Lampard's men are now in serious jeopardy at the wrong end of the table and sit just one point above the Clarets, who occupy the last relegation place. Next up for them is a visit from Ralf Rangnick's side who are gunning for a victory to keep their Champions League qualification dreams alive.

When asked about speculation regarding his own future as Everton boss, the Chelsea legend issued an honest verdict. "For me, in my relatively short managerial career, I probably spent 18 months at Chelsea with the same," he explained.

"Over that 18 months you’re probably always two games from the sack. Maybe that’s just a symptom of football and the Premier League, it’s pressure, that’s fine, you sign up for that, I’ve got no problem with that.

"Even if you’re in the FA Cup final or make the top four or whatever, you still know the rules. So I’ve got no problem with that in terms of speculation.

"We’re a huge club, people want to talk about it. In football terms I don’t think anyone else should talk about us any differently from the other teams in the battle we’re in."

United currently sit seventh in the Premier League, three points off Tottenham Hotspur in fourth. A victory in the early kick off would heap the pressure on their top four rivals ahead of another busy weekend of action.
