Real Madrid make Man City sensational £840m transfer offer as Pep Guardiola plots shock reunion

Pep Guardiola will be hoping to exact his revenge on Erik ten Hag. Manchester City and Manchester United will lock horns at Wembley Stadium later this afternoon in the Community Shield.

In the meantime, higher-ups at the Etihad Stadium will be working tirelessly to find ways to strengthen the squad. Eberechi Eze has recently emerged as a potential target for the Premier League champions, meanwhile, Bruno Guimaraes continues to be linked with a switch.

However, securing their signatures could be the least of the Guardiola's concern, with Kevin de Bruyne set to leave when his contract expires next year. So, with that being said, the Manchester Evening News have rounded up the latest news and transfer gossip on Saturday morning.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Wolves have identified Carlos Forbes as a potential replacement for Pedro Neto, who looks set to join Chelsea this summer. The 20-year-old winger joined Manchester City from Sporting CP in July 2014 before swapping the Etihad Stadium for the Johan Cruyff Arena nine-years later.

The report states that Forbes has been placed on Gary O'Neil's shortlist in case the west London outfit sign Neto. The Ajax ace featured 21 times in the Eredivisie last season, scoring two and providing four assists.

Manchester Evening News says: "Wolves may be keen to sign Carlos Forbes, but Ajax won't give up the youngster without a fight. Even if he were to join Gary O'Neil's side, he would arrive with incredible pressure on his shoulders, with supporters expecting his to fill Pedro Neto's shoes."
