Real Madrid confirm signing of Aurelien Tchouameni after beating Liverpool to land French sensation

Aurelien Tchouameni has completed his move to Real Madrid from Monaco, the clubs have confirmed.

The 22-year-old midfielder has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in Europe with Manchester United and Chelsea among the clubs interested in signing him.

But it was ultimately left down to Liverpool and Real Madrid contesting for his signature with RMC Sport reporting in late May he had agreed personal terms with both clubs.

Tchouameni eventually decided on a move to the European and Spanish champions with Real now confirming the France international has signed a six-year contract for a reported fee of €80million (£68million).

‘Real Madrid ‘and AS Monaco have reached an agreement over the transfer of Aurélien Tchouaméni, who joins the club on a six-year deal.

‘Tchouaméni will be unveiled on Tuesday 14 June at Real Madrid City at 12:00 (CET) following his medical.

‘Tchouaméni will then be unveiled to the media.’

Real shifted their attention to Tchouameni after failing to lure Kylian Mbappe to the Santiaigo Bernabeu, with the forward rejecting their offer and extending his deal with Paris Saint-Germain in a dramatic U-turn.

Liverpool meanwhile are still hoping to sign a new midfielder this summer. Their efforts to lure Gavi away from Barcelona appear to have fallen short with the 17-year-old set to sign a new deal at the Camp Nou.

The Reds have also been linked with PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare while Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips is said to be on their radar.
