Ravichandran Ashwin achieves a double to join elite list of Indian all-rounders
Ravichandran Ashwin leaves no stone unturned to make his presence felt on the ground. And the Indian all-rounder achieved another milestone during the second day of the second Test against Australia on Saturday.After three wickets in the first innings, the Indian all-rounder bailed his team out from the precarious position with his 37-run knock and added a crucial 114-run stand for the 8th-wicket along with Axar Patel.During his innings, Ashwin completed 5000 runs in first-class cricket to become the fifth Indian player to achieve a double of 5000 runs and 700 wickets.Vinoo Mankad, S Venkataraghavan, Kapil Dev and Anil Kumble are the other Indian players to have got the landmark in first-class cricket.
On Friday, Ashwin added another record to his name in Test cricket as he became only the second Indian bowler to complete 100 wickets against Australia in Tests after Kumble. Ashwin attained the feat in his 20th Test against Australia while Kumble finished with 111 wickets under his belt in the same number of matches.
