Ratings: Carbery leads the way for Ireland on a tough night in Paris

It was a nailbiter in Paris, but Ireland were left to rue their poor first half as they fell to a 30-24 defeat against France in Round 2 of the Six Nations.

It was almost a memorable comeback, Ireland getting back to 27-24 inside the final 10 minutes having earlier trailed by 15, but a late Melvyn Jaminet penalty was the insurance score for France as they maintain their 100% record.

Here's how we rated Andy Farrell's side...

Hugo Keenan - 5

As usual the Leinster full-back was assured under the high ball, but his kicking was below his usual standards. His kick out over the dead ball line led to a scrum penalty and three points for France, while there are question marks around both his decision and execution of an up-and-under in the final minute of the game, which ultimately handed back possession to France.

Andrew Conway - 6

Didn't see too much ball, but his penalty concession early in the second half saw France move 15 points clear. Conceded an earlier penalty for an aerial collision which seemed harsh, and overall his kick-chase was executed well.

Garry Ringrose - 7

Both Ringrose and Aki found their impact in attack limited sue to a ferocious French linespeed. On the few occasions Ringrose got space he looked sharp, making 70 metres off eight carries.

Bundee Aki - 6

Aki's carrying last week was ferocious, and France really closed the space on him. It was in defence he did his work though with 10 tackles, missing none, before he departed for Henshaw on 63 minutes.

Mack Hansen - 8

His try exemplified the natural talents he has, as he caught Carbery's restart and powered for the line without breaking stride. But he also showed his rugby IQ with some important defensive reads, with one in particular on Yoram Moefana in the first half.
