Rashford, Martial, Van de Beek - Manchester United injury latest ahead of Man City clash

It's been a long month but Manchester United will soon return to Premier League action.

United's last league outing came on September 2 when they defeated Arsenal 3-1 but they then saw matches against Crystal Palace and Leeds United postponed in the wake of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Though Europa League fixtures against Real Sociedad and FC Sheriff went ahead as planned, the international break means Erik ten Hag's side has had a long wait for domestic competition.

That will come to end on Sunday, however, but there will be no easing back into the swing of things as fierce rivals Manchester City await. It looks set to be the most intriguing derby in years with United showing on their undefeated streak they could be a challenge for their neighbours once again.

Though his international stars appear to have returned to Carrington mostly unscathed, Ten Hag still has some injury concerns ahead of the Manchester derby.

Anthony Martial's bright pre-season made it look as though he was destined for a return to form at Old Trafford but an Achillies injury has left him frustrated this season with only 45 minutes under his belt. There doesn't appear to have been much progress made over the last few weeks, either, as the striker still hasn't returned to training with his teammates.

Ahead of the tie against Real Sociedad on September 8, Ten Hag said: "Yes, he is still out. He is progressing but he is not ready to get back into team training or in a game."
