Raphael Varane reveals Man Utd return date after Covid infection; praises top Prem striker
Manchester United centre-half Raphael Varane believes he is fit to return for the club this weekend when they play Tottenham.
Varane has endured a troublesome debut season at Old Trafford. It has been affected by groin and hamstring injuries, as well as stomach problems. His most recent setback involved the contraction of coronavirus ahead of the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City.
Luke Shaw also missed the derby after testing positive, while strikers Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani were both injured.
Ralf Rangnick has been given a boost ahead of Saturday’s clash against Spurs, as France international Varane says he is fit.
The 28-year-old told club media: “Yeah, I’m OK. I’m training normally. I feel better and I’m ready to help the team and to look forward.”
Varane was asked about the last meeting between United and Spurs, which ended in a 3-0 victory for the Red Devils. That result proved to be Nuno Espirito Santo’s final game in charge of the North London outfit as Antonio Conte soon came in to replace him.

“It was a very good game,” Varane added. “I think we played very well and we respected the plan of the game. I think we were very, very solid and the result was a great result.”
