Ranvir Singh issues apology to Lorraine viewers ahead of ITV show as she admits 'his career is over'

Ranvir Singh was forced to issue viewers with an apology on Monday as Lorraine returned to screens. The ITV presenter, who regularly fronts Good Morning Britain, has been stepping in to cover for Lorraine Kelly as she takes her annual break during the summer holidays.

Kicking off Monday's programme, the 46-year-old broadcaster admitted 'he got it wrong' as she referred to a segment from Friday's show. Ahead of the FIFA Women's World Cup final this weekend, the ITV morning show sought the help of a 'psychic' parrot to predict the score on Sunday.

The green parrot had picked England as its winner for Sunday's match, but the results saw the Lionesses left heartbroken after England's 1-0 defeat against Spain at the Stadium Australia in Sydney.

Addressing the parrot's error last week, Ranvir told Lorraine viewers: "We do have to start today's show with an apology. Larry, our psychic parrot, got it spectacularly wrong on Friday, Larry.

"He predicted that England would win the World Cup final. He's on the phone to his lawyers right now as we speak. His career is over I'm afraid. Ranvir then jokingly added: "Larry, you're a liar. That's all we've got to say. I know right, I'm going straight in."

It comes as Friday's show saw the 'psychic' parrot segment in chaos as warned that the bird had 'stage fright. The parrot initially wouldn't take part in the task, which saw two people hold up food pictured with both team's flags on it.

Larry then had to pick one hand, which would then reveal who he had 'predicted' to win the much-anticipated title. Former I'm A Celebrity star Jake Quickenden was on hand as he held a cup with the England
