Ranking Divock Origi’s six goals for Liverpool against Everton

During Divock Origi’s time at Liverpool, there is one thing he’s enjoyed doing more than anything else: tormenting Everton.

Origi has scored six Premier League goals against Everton and only Steven Gerrard has netted more for Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

The striker looks set to leave Liverpool at the end of the 2021-22 season but those six goals have helped cement his cult hero status at Anfield.

“He is a legend on and off the pitch,” Jurgen Klopp said after Origi’s latest goal against Everton. “He is a fantastic footballer for me, and I know it sounds ridiculous as I don’t line him up often, he is a world-class striker, he is our best finisher, definitely.

“He always was and everybody would say the same when you see him do these kinds of things in training, then you see the quality of the squad and other players and it’s really hard I imagine [for him].

“Other players were not in the squad but in really good shape, I have really hard decisions to make because the boys all want to contribute and are responsible for the situation we are in.

“Everybody loves Div and rightly so. He was again very decisive. I’m very, very happy for him.”

After Liverpool struggled to break down the Everton defence, Klopp decided to turn to his bench and brought on Origi and Luis Diaz.

Andy Robertson gave Liverpool the lead moments later and the two substitutes then linked up to make it 2-0 in the 84th minute.

Diaz attempted a dramatic bicycle kick in the penalty area and Origi then displayed his striker’s instincts by heading home from close range.
