Rangers transfer news: Official Borna Barisic offer made as Gers consider cashing in on defender

Rangers are reportedly looking to sell left-back Borna Barisic, amid strong interest from Turkish champions Trabzonspor.

A report from Turkish outlet Fotomac claims that an official offer has been made for the 29-year-old, with Barisic deemed surplus to requirements at Ibrox.

Football Scotland reported previously that Trabzonspor were expected to make their move for the Croatian. That report came off the back of the Turkish side watching Barisic on a number of occasions for his country.

Rumours have been rife of the Glasgow outfit being willing to listen to offers of around £4million for the player.

The experienced defender is expected to be back up to exciting talent Calvin Bassey. That’s unless the Nigerian switches full-time to centre-back or is sold this summer.

With that in mind, Gers want to cash in and try and bring in a replacement.

In terms of who could come in, if Barisic goes, Rangers are known to be chasing Stoke City’s Josh Tymon.

However, the Potters star is valued at around £5m, which leaves the Ibrox short if they can only fetch £4m for Barisic.

That could in turn lead to another potential sale, although Rangers will be hoping for significant funds if they can get through the Champions League qualifying stage.
