Rangers transfer news bulletin as Relebohile Mofokeng silence broken while Harry Souttar conundrum remerges

Orlando Pirates boss Jose Riveiro insists the decision on Relebohile Mofokeng's future will be left up to the player amid links with the Rangers.

The 19-year-old wonderkid is viewed as the rising star of South African football - with reports suggesting that the Light Blues' are at the front of a queue to snap up the midfielder this summer. However, Mofokeng has been warned about making an early move to European football by under-20s manager Hugo Broos - who has declared he doesn't think the rising star is ready to leave the South African Premier Division behind after just one full season in the first-team picture.

However, mentor Riveiro has batted away suggestions that Mofokeng can't make the step up at this stage of his career if Rangers come calling. He told Radio 2000’s Game On : “I think usually things happen for a reason. And I’m sure that Rele will, if he is not currently attracting the interests of many other teams and leagues.

“I just hope he gets the right call and opportunity because not every opportunity is right. And that’s a difficult thing to decide or choose.

"But I’m sure that the time to make decisions for Rele and his environment will come in the future. We are here to help him also to do the right thing.

“I don’t think the right opportunity or time is related to his age or experience. It’s just about finding the right place to go to or stay. Who knows?”

Damian Garcia has also been linked with a switch to Rangers - but Penarol don't appear to be in any rush to sell. The midfielder is currently in the midst of a contract dispute with the Uruguayan club and the 20-year-old will be free to leave for nothing in December.

But Penarol president Nacho Ruglio has played down talk of a rush to sell the star
