Rangers transfer news: Big update on Joe Aribo contract situation at Ibrox

Joe Aribo is nowhere close to signing a new deal at Rangers, says journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 25-year-old is out of contract next year and continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League.

According to The Sun, Crystal Palace are lining up a £10m bid for Aribo as they prepare for life without Conor Gallagher.

Gallagher has been a revelation at Selhurst Park this season as he closes in on double digits for goals in the Premier League.

The young English midfielder, of course, is only on loan at Palace from Chelsea and is expected to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer following his stunning campaign with the Eagles.

And it looks like Aribo is the man Patrick Vieira has identified to replace him.

Getting Aribo out of Ibrox may not prove too difficult, with O’Rourke telling GIVEMESPORT that he is no closer to extending his current deal at the club, which expires at the end of next season.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: “Aribo, obviously he’s just come back from the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria, still no nowhere near signing a new contract.”

That is starting to look unlikely, as Palace are not the only Premier League club thought to be fans of Aribo.

The Daily Mail reported back in November that Brentford and Watford have also made the Nigerian midfielder a target.

Aribo has been a key player for Rangers since joining the Glasgow outfit from Charlton Athletic back in 2019. He has already hit the 30-game mark this season, showing his importance to the side.

Ultimately, he is not an individual manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst will want to lose, though his exit is starting to look like an inevitability.
