Rangers transfer bulletin as Mohamed Diomande's hidden tools emerge and Sima's future 'wish' revealed

Mohamed Diomande has been labelled "one of the best midfielders in Denmark" by his current manager - and will offer much more than just goals from midfield to Rangers.

Diomande is expected in Glasgow to complete a move from FC Nordsjaelland with Philippe Clement close to his second signing of the window after Fabio Silva. He has impressed this season across 20 appearances, but curiously hasn't scored since May despite previously having a good goalscoring record. Last month, Nordsjaelland manager Johannes Hoff Thorup was quizzed about Diomande's lack of goals - but he was quick to launch a defence of the 22-year-old.

He said: "Instead of talking about his scoring statistics, why don't we look at the statistics about how many defensive tackles he makes? Then it would be turned into a positive story. Listen, Mohamed is one of the best midfielders in Denmark. He has been absolutely fantastic for us this season and I hope that most people can see that."

Diomande was also praised last season for recovering from a bout of malaria after returning to his homeland. Thorup said: "He went home on holiday and was ill with malaria. He actually lost ten per cent of his body weight because he was so ill. So he has done so well to rehabilitate and recover and get back to playing football. We all know what he can do."

Elsewhere, Abdallah Sima wants to continue his 'evolution' at Rangers - with his agent opening the door to a permanent transfer from Brighton in the summer. Senegalese winger Sima has been one of Philippe Clement's best players and he stands alongside Jack Butland as one of the only summer recruits to earn universal pass marks so far.
