Rangers told next CEO answer is staring them in the face as Hibs Hotline diehards fear board misstep with David Gray

David Gray was the man who gave the Hibs faithful the moment they’d longed a lifetime for.

But some of the Easter Road faithful aren’t sure the 2016 Scottish Cup hero is the boss they need to deliver in the here and now. The former interim head coach has been given the Leith job on a permanent basis after penning a three-year deal.

But John Scott, Grassmoor, asked: “When are the present board going to learn from their mistakes Seriously, handing the job to yet another rookie — It's like the pilot of a Cessna being asked to fly an A380 full of passengers for the first time! Whatever the outcome, David Gray will still command respect from those of us who support Hibs but come on, there's some of us who can recall a long list of Hibs legends that couldn't handle the step up into the manager's post. That included John Yogi Hughes, who went on to claim Hibs were the perfect apprenticeship for the Hartlepool job. That’s really where Hibs are now."

Neil Renton, Leith, was equally sceptical, saying: “There’s no denying David Gray is a Hibs legend but his appointment as manager doesn’t instil me with confidence. He’s been a coach under three managers who’ve been sacked. Unless he’s going to be backed by the club and given millions to spend I think there’s a danger we’ll be back to square one.”

Meanwhile, Alan McGrotty, Kirkintilloch, reckons Rangers should be looking for a former Hibs employee to fill a vacancy of their own: “Rangers don't have to look too far to replace James Bisgrove. There's an ideal, top-class replacement sitting right in front of their eyes in Leeann Dempster. She has a fantastic record, a brilliant knowledge and understanding of Scottish football and as a bonus, comes from a big Rangers supporting family.
