Rangers star's Tranmere Rovers thanks amid Ibrox exit rumours

Rangers star Josh McPake has publicly thanked Tranmere Rovers for how they handled him during a loan spell, amid rumours that he might be leaving Ibrox for good this summer.

The 20-year-old from Coatbridge has been with Rangers since 2019, but has been loaned out to Dundee, Morton Harrogate Town, Morecambe and now Tranmere.

Micky Mellon's side finished ninth in League Two, and last week thanked winger McPake for his services.

McPake took to social media to say: "Would like to thank everyone at Tranmere Rovers for their support during my time on loan at the club.

"The fans were class, home and away, and I wish the club all the best for the future."

McPake has been plagued by injury issues this season, and barely played for Morecambe, before moving to Tranmere.

There are now reports emanating from Ibrox that he could be released from his contract this summer.

Former Braidhurst High pupil McPake has two years left on his contract, after signing an extension in January, but it's rumoured that Rangers may be willing to pay him up to get him off their books.

In three years at Rangers, he has played only once, in a Europa League first-round qualifying match against St Joseph's in July 2019.

Rovers boss Mellon said last week: "I'd like to wish all of the players whoa re departing all the best for the future, and thank them for their efforts whilst with us."
