Rangers spearhead four-way battle for signing of Bosnian star Vladan Kovacevic

Rangers are looking to sign a new starting goalkeeper in the upcoming transfer window with 24-year-old Vladan Kovacevic topping the list, per a report. 

The Gers are coming off the back of one of the club’s most successful seasons in recent memory. They ventured all the way to the Europa League final but unfortunately fell short after losing on penalties.

The club had a less than easy run to the final, overcoming German giants such as Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

Although, it just wasn’t mean to be as the side couldn’t take Frankfurt all the way after loanee Aaron Ramsey missed his spot-kick during the penalty shootout.

Starting the match was veteran shot-stopper Allan McGregor. The Scotland international is 40 years old and his contract expires in June.

This is why the rumours of Rangers signing a new number one have emerged. According to a report summarised by Vital Rangers, 24-year-old Kovacevic is the Gers’ top target to replace McGregor.

The source states that Rangers’ hunt for Kovacevic has heated up recently after reports coming from Poland claim that the Scottish team’s interest is ‘true’.

The goalkeeper is highly sought-after, however, with at least two other Polish clubs in Lech Poznan and Legia Warsaw reportedly interested in acquiring his services.

The report also outlines the mystery of McGregor’s future, as it is currently ‘unknown’.

Within Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s camp, there is already a young goalkeeper looking to step up and take the starting spot.

Robby McRorie is also 24 years old, so the Gers wouldn’t gain any more years if they went in for Kovacevic.
