Rangers sources: Ibrox star now having behind-the-scenes talks as board agreement emerges

Sources from Glasgow Rangers have revealed that the board have now agreed to offer a new deal to Ryan Kent.

Of course, it is a worry that Kent only has 14 months left on his contract at Ibrox, as if a new deal is not signed by the summer, he will only have a year left, and the club will be susceptible to transfer offers.

It is expected that a number of clubs, notably from the English Premier League, will try to make a move for the winger after past interest, and so the Teddy Bears really need to get a contract sorted out if they want to either keep him in Glasgow or demand a big fee if he departs.

As per Football Insider, Light Blues sources have revealed that the board have now reached an agreement to offer Kent a ‘lucrative’ deal, after talks behind-the-scenes.

However, should Kent reject the deal, they are ‘likely’ to listen to offers for him in the summer.

Should contract talks stall, the sensible thing would be for the Gers to cash in on Kent, in order to get his maximum value at the risk of losing him for free.

The Englishman reportedly has a £20m release clause in his contract, which would be good money for him given that he would only have a year left, and would be a record sale for the club.

Of course, Kent has been a key player for RFC this season, and so would not be easy at all to replace, but if they can gain a significant fee for him, then the money could then be reinvested into another talent.

Nonetheless, fans will still be hoping that the 25-year-old agrees to a new contract, and therefore stays at the club beyond the summer.
