Brian Duff, Glenrothes, turned up the grill and said: “United and the likes of Motherwell to mention a couple from Scotland top flight should be barred from European competitions as they are an embarrassment to Scottish football and their respective supporters.

“The clubs should reimburse the travelling supporters money for travel, accommodation and loss of wages. And, let’s not kid ourselves, next year will just be the same. Thanks.”
