Rangers predicted to target Martin Boyle transfer as Ibrox move deemed summer 'possibility'

Former Rangers and Australia star Craig Moore has urged his former club to go and snap up Martin Boyle amid uncertainty over his future in Saudi Arabia.

The 29-year-old struck 14 times in the first half of last season's Premiership campaign for Hibs, including a hat-trick which dumped the Light Blues out of the Premier Sports Cup. He accepted a money-spinning transfer during January though to join Al-Faisaly in a transfer worth £2.5 million. His domestic season has ended terribly so soon after helping national side Australia qualify for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Boyle's club have been relegated six month after his arrival following a 2-1 defeat to Al-Hilal. They needed a point to survive but lost and because of their head-to-head record against Al-Batin, they are on their way down to Saudi First Division League, a 20-team league that begins in September. Whether he sticks around is another question.

Hibs are said to have inserted a buy-back clause in his contract and the winger has previously stated he'd like a return to Leith one day.

But former Rangers defender Moore believes his former club have to jump in front of the Edinburgh club and snap him up.

He told Go Radio: "Rangers definitely could be a possibility. They are in a situation where they are possibly looking at a right winger to strengthen their squad.

"Martin Boyle has proven himself a very exciting player here. For me, that would be very interesting, and I am sure Rangers will be monitoring that situation.

"I hope for Hibs' sake that their agreement is in black and white because things can change in football. Martin Boyle is someone who will have opportunities.
