Rangers player out of Braga battle as boss provides 'unavailable' Europa League injury update in blow for ace

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed Uddingston's Alex Lowry is out of tonight's Europa League match with Braga.

The teenage midfielder has been used in European squads by his boss this year but will not be included in tonight's quarter-final first leg in Portugal.

Lowry has emerged as one of Rangers' brightest prospects this season after a brilliant debut was capped off by a goal in the Scottish Cup against Stirling Albion.

He's made three further appearances after shining in the Lowland League for the Premiership side's 'B' team.

In a pre-match injury update ahead of the trip to Portugal, van Bronckhorst confirmed that the Lanarkshire ace is one of the players who can't play, along with Alfredo Morelos and Ianis Hagi.

What keeps Lowry out of the game is unknown.

The former Barcelona midfielder said of the Uddingston talent: "We don't have Lowry. He is unavailable. We will pick a plan and try to execute it as best we can."
