As such, the heartbreak in Seville means that Rangers will have to put their quest to become the most decorated club in the history of men’s football on pause for another year.

Well, at least, that’s according to data collected by the Daily Star in 2021, which heralded Rangers as the second-most decorated club in history on the back of winning their first Scottish top-flight title in a decade.

The British newspaper calculated that Steven Gerrard guiding Rangers to the Scottish throne elevated their tally to 116 trophies, which can only be bettered by a single football club.
