Rangers legend entertains pantomime Celtic boos as he makes Scottish Grand National appearance

Rangers legend Ally McCoist was the man tasked with bringing out the Scottish Grand National trophy on Saturday - but the East Kilbride man played some Celtic fans' pantomime villain.

The former striker emerged to present the major prize to jockeys before Win My Wings brought it home.

It is the biggest day of the Scottish racing calendar and McCoist has previously BEEN involved in promotional activity at the event.

Taking place a day before Rangers' 2-1 Premiership defeat to arch-rivals Celtic, there were some pantomime-like scenes before proceedings got underway,

While some fans of the Ibrox fans clapped him on, those with green and white allegiances proceeded to boo the East Kilbride man.

But, speaking with ITV, the 59-year-old admits he expected a reception worse than the one he got: "It's been a while since I've had a trophy in my possession.

"I'm always glass half-full, there were less boos than I anticipated. So that’s a positive!"
