Rangers kid heading for the exit door as Ibrox club 'considers offers'

Rangers are ready to listen to offers for winger Josh McPake this summer, after he failed to impress on a series of loans.

The 20-year-okd from Coatbridge is currently on loan at English League Two side Tranmere, but has played just three minutes in the last six games, and that follows a frustrating loan spell at Morecombe earlier this season which was terminated in January.

He hasn't progressed as much as Tranmere or Rangers would have liked, so is likely to be recalled.

McPake has two years left on his contract, having been at Rangers for three years, but it looks unlikely that he will be forcing his way into the first-team plans any time soon.

The Daily Record reports that Rangers are keen to look at other options for McPake, which could involve another loan spell, or a permanent move somewhere else.

McPake has been loaned out to Dundee, Morton, Morecambe and Tranmere, with limited success, but did help Harrogate Town lift the English Football League Trophy.

But it looks like McPake has fallen out of favour at Tranmere under former Dundee United boss Micky Mellon.

Mellon raved about McPake after winning the race to sign him on loan in January.

He was quoted at the time as saying: “We are pleased to get him in. We are pleased with what Rangers have said to us and I agree, he’s one of their best talents outside the first-team group.

“They want him among that. We will try and develop him like we do all the loan players that come here.

“He adds variety and a different type of threat in wide areas. We will need that as it’s nice to know you have different talents who can help you get a result.”
