Rangers January sale hits early roadblocks with Dessers and Yilmaz dominos yet to fall and £4.2m transfer 'stuck'
Rangers have made it clear they need to slash the Ibrox budget - but offloading some of their fringe men may be a tough task this month.
Trabzonspor are reportedly keen on Ridvan Yilmaz - but a deal is far from straightforward with the Turkish side looking to cut their wage outlay before boss Senol Gunes gets his wish over a move to the 23-year-old. Gunes is an admirer having worked with the 23-year-old during his time at Besiktas and gave him his debut for the national side - but the club are said to be looking to move on big-earner Borna Barisic before they make a move.
Gunebakis state that the club powerbrokers have made it clear to the boss that players need to be punted before another left-back can be signed. After leaving Rangers in the summer, Croat Barisic has struggled in Turkey and has only managed 11 appearances in all competitions. Reports from there have suggested his contract could be ripped up.
Elsewhere, Saint-Etienne have been linked with a move for struggling forward Cyriel Dessers. But French outlet Sport suggest that the club are not interested in reaching Rangers' asking price for the frontman - which is claimed to be in the region of £4million - unless they can offload players to fund a deal.
Elsewhere, Aris are said to be interested in snapping up Jose Cifuentes on a permanent deal. The Ecuadorian midfielder has turned heads and the agreement reportedly states the two clubs can broker a deal at any time for a £4.2million fee.
Monobala claim that talks have started again between the Premiership and Greek League clubs with the January window now open. However, the two are said to be "currently stuck" over the asking price for the Ibrox flop.
