Rangers hero Andy Goram rushed to hospital following cancer scare

Rangers icon Andy Goram has been rushed to hospital and is set for a procedure, following his cancer diagnosis.

Goram, 58, was rushed to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride after suffering severe stomach pains on Wednesday, just two days after being discharged from Wishaw General, where he was given the shock diagnosis last month.

A Daily Record exclusive revealed that he will be scoped to see if a stent that was inserted into his gullet a few weeks ago is still properly in place.

Their report quotes close friend Stan Gordon as saying: "After being released from Wishaw General last Friday, Andy had a routine meeting with the oncologist at Hairmyres to discuss possible treatment for his cancer.

“He had severe stomach pains on Monday and Tuesday.

“On Wednesday, he was rushed up to a ward. He will get scoped to see if the stent inserted into his gullet a few weeks ago is still properly in place.

“Andy would like to thank everyone for the cards and best wishes from the world over – from Celtic fans and ex-players, the whole Rangers family and a vast amount of former team-mates who have visited him.”

Goram has received several messages of support, including from Cambuslang Rangers, where he has been a coach.

'The Goalie' won six league titles and five domestic cups during a glittering seven-year career at Rangers.

He later played for Motherwell and Manchester United, won 43 Scotland caps, and went to two World Cups.
