Rangers fired Champions League warning but Union SG keeper confesses to 'disrespect'

Rangers have been warned that Union Saint-Gilloise's weekend shocker is no prelude to Tuesday's Champions League showdown at Ibrox. Giovanni van Bronckhorst 's side trail the Pro League outfit 2-0 from their third qualifying round first leg clash after a dismal display in Belgium.

But Union followed up their inspired performance with a dire 3-0 defeat away at Mechelen, one that left boss Karel Geraerts fuming. However, Union keeper Anthony Morris insists the dressing room is fired up to bounce back against the Europa League finalists after conceding they may have shown their domestic opponents "a little disrespect".

He's adamant that won't be the case again when the two teams collide on Tuesday night for right to face PSV Eindhoven or Monaco in the playoff round. Morris said: "Perhaps at Mechelen, we showed a little disrespect towards them because they had no points from two games. But given that we lost two games there last season, we had no right to have approached it like that.

"I can honestly say we didn't have our minds on Ibrox. For me, it doesn't matter if it is against Mechelen or Rangers, I always approach matches the same way and I hope my teammates do too.

"I hope we learned lessons from that defeat. And we all know what awaits us in Glasgow. This bunch of players hate losing - you could see it in the dressing room after the game. We have huge motivation to bounce back.

"We will do everything at Rangers to show everyone who the real Union are. But we also have to acknowledge that the quality of the opposition is high."
