Rangers fans' Jimmy Bell retro shirt tribute planned for Dundee United clash

Rangers fans are set to pay their respects to legendary kitman Jimmy Bell this weekend with a touching retro kit tribute.

The 69-year-old, from Wishaw, sadly passed away today after serving the Ibrox club for more than 30 years and tributes have flooded in for a man regarded as part of the fabric of the club.

Now the fan group Broomloan Collective have announced on social media they are urging fans to wear retro tops from across Bell's time at the club when they face Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.

They hope to turn Ibrox into a "sea of jerseys"- on what will be an emotional day in Govan.

Ahead of Sunday's clash, Broomloan Collective posted: “The Broomloan Collective are saddened to hear the news of the sudden passing of club legend, Jimmy Bell.

“Despite never pulling on the royal blue jersey, Jimmy was as much part of the fabric of Rangers Football Club as any treble winning manager or cup final winning goalscorer.

“As a tribute to his many years of service and loyalty, we are asking all Rangers fans to wear a retro top of any era on Sunday against Dundee United.

“We hope to turn the stands into a sea of jerseys that Jimmy would have undoubtedly prepared and hung up in the dressing room for countless legends throughout the decades.

“He lived our dream and will always be remembered.

"Rest easy, Jimmy!”
