Rangers fan group take Napoli ban fight to Euro supporters body as they slam 'disdain' shown over lockout

A Rangers fans group has taken their fight to a leading European supporters organisation in a bid to have the ban on travelling supporters lifted for their Champions League clash with Napoli next month.

Broomloan Collective are furious with the UEFA decision not to allow the Ibrox legions to make the trip to the Diego Armando Maradona in southern Italy for the Light Blues’ Group A fixture on October 26 in the interests of sporting integrity.

It comes after the decision to lock the Serie A leaders’ fans out of Ibrox on Wednesday due to a shortage of police resources following the passing of the Queen, with officers being drafted in from all over the country during a 10-day period of national mourning. But Broomloan Collective are determined to get the decision overturned as they hit out at the “disdain” shown to fans and have gone to body Football Supporters Europe (FSE).

A statement released by the group said: “Broomloan Collective, like other fans and groups at Rangers, are extremely disappointed with the decision to shut out away fans from both legs of our Champions League fixture with Napoli. Yet again, the disdain and contempt shown to travelling Rangers’ fans after booking travel arrangements to get to Naples for the return fixture next month highlights just how little those who made the decision understand the value of our fanbases loyalty.

“Broomloan Collective have now contacted Football Supporters Europe (FSE) regarding this. FSE were pivotal in the away fans ban for Lyon being overturned last season. We hope they can again assist with finding a way forward which can ensure Rangers fans travelling can attend and watch the game.”
