Rangers facing transfer speculation on eve of crucial PSV clash

Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara is attracting interest from Nice, according to reports.

The 26-year-old was absent from the Rangers squad to play Hibs last weekend, with 90min.com claiming that this is down to a potential move to the French Ligue 1 club.

Nice have reinforced heavily this summer, bringing in former Rangers midfielder Aaron Ramsey and experienced goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel from Leicester City, and are involved in the Europa Conference League qualifiers. Their manager Lucien Favre has spoken of his desire to sign more players ahead of the transfer window closing next week.

Capped 46 times for Finland, Kamara has been linked with a host of clubs in the past two years. He agreed a new contract with Rangers last September until the summer of 2025 but has not started for the Ibrox club in their past five matches.

Two Turkish clubs in Besiktas and Fenerbahce have also made enquiries about Kamara, while Italian outfit Salernitana have also been credited with interest.

Rangers have a crucial Champions League play-off tie against PSV to prepare for this week. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team drew 2-2 at Ibrox in the first leg last week and travel over to Eindhoven later today for the second leg against the Dutch side at the Philips Stadion on Wednesday. It is not yet known if Kamara is part of the travelling party.

Rangers paid £50,000 to Dundee for Kamara in January 2019 and would make an enormous profit on the former Arsenal youth product should they decide to sell, with a fee approaching £10million expected to be required to secure his services.
