Rangers emerge victorious against Celtic again but Hoops starlet dazzles despite cup defeat

Rangers 'B' have followed in the footsteps of the Govan club's senior side by edging Glasgow rivals Celtic 'B' in a cup semi-final.

48 hours on from Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men emerging 2-1 victors at Hampden in Scottish Cup last four action, the Ibrox youngsters have progressed to the Glasgow Cup final.

They couldn't be separated in normal time as a 2-2 draw played out, but a penalty shootout miss from the Hoops' Ben Wylie was costly as Rangers emerged 5-4 victors.

There was plenty of Lanarkshire involvement in the match, as Uddingston's Alex Lowry impressed in midfield for the Light Blues.

Karamoko Dembele was a shining light for Celtic with two assists and he teed up Hamilton's Ben Summers for his side's second of the afternoon via a mazy solo run.

Mikey Johnstone grabbed the other green and white goal, initially putting them ahead before Ross McCausland and then Cole McKinnon levelled for Rangers after Summers' effort.

Charlie McCann converted the winning penalty as Airdrie manager Ian Murray watched on, with on-loan left-back Brody Paterson playing for the Parkhead side.

Clyde or Queen's Park now await in this year's final.
