Rangers diehards soak up VAR rage from rivals on defiant Hotline as distraught regular predicts end game

A blustery weekend in Glasgow took hold of Scottish football as Celtic’s title defence was blown off course at Parkhead on Saturday 24 hours before Rangers swept up the first silverware of the season at Hampden.

If there was a barometer required to judge the winds of change in our game right now then the Hotline isn’t a bad tool. Celtic’s 2-0 home loss to Hearts saw the Hoops suffer back-to-back league defeats for the first time in over 10 years while Rangers' 1-0 win over Aberdeen in the League Cup Final was the Ibrox club’s first success in that competition since 2011.

And Alan McGaw, Alloa, said: “What a transformation since Clement’s arrival. Landing our first League Cup in over 10 years, it’s been a fantastic three days for the club. Considering the injuries we’ve had the team has stuck together to get us to where we are now. It’s going to be exciting if we keep winning up to the Parkhead game. One trophy secured; two games in hand away from topping the league; three games away from a European final - and all of this has come about over four days.”
